Everybody needs a change sometime in their life.  That’s why we take vacations, change jobs, get divorced, get married, have kids and move to a new city.  As most people get older, we get to know ourselves a bit better, and understand when these important moments need to happen in our lives.  Kids however, don’t have the benefit of that experience, nor do the have the means to make big changes in their lives.  That’s where parents and guardians come in.  Enrolling your child in some residential treatment programs may be just the thing to get their lives back on track.  No doubt it will be a transition for everyone, but that again is a valuable life lesson for your teens and those around them.

Kids on the straight and narrow, and troubled teens all need as much love and guidance as we can provide for them.  And, sometimes that means enrolling the help of professionals that deal with their kinds of issues on a daily basis.  For some parents that may seem like a failing on their own part, but they really shouldn’t feel that way.  Life is complicated, and there’s no way any one person can be equipped for all the curves that will come your way.    I had one friend for example, that while looking at some ADD ADHD schools for their 14 year old son was having a hard time coming to grips with the guilt.  The advisers at the school were great in helping the deal with it, and in time they saw that it really was the best long term solution for their son.
