As I was planning for my upcoming trip to Europe, I came across some great Germany travel tips. I’ve put together some of my favorite tips from each country I will be visiting so that I don’t have to carry a big guidebook with me everywhere. I have lists of places I want to go and specific sights that I want to see. I’m almost done my itinerary so the next step will be how I will be getting from place to place. I was hoping that I would be able to take a train to most of my destinations with possibly some bus rides to the smaller places. I know that there are bus pass options as well as train passes.
I was looking online at some of the Eurail passes to see if any of them fit my itinerary. I think the best pass for me is to get the Global pass. It allows me to ride the train within 21 countries. It also has the longest time frame available of three months. The pass also acts as a coupon with other companies so I will save money on accommodations and other transportation. If I arrive to a city’s airport there is often a connection to the railway station that is free. If I need to take a ferry at some point, which is likely, the pass will get me a discount on most of the ferry lines. One thing I don’t like about the pass is that it doesn’t guarantee that I will have a seat. I still have to make arrangements for a reservation if I need to be somewhere at a specific time. That is a small inconvenience though as I don’t foresee that to happen anyway. The Eurail website was a great resource to me as I planned this trip. It was easy to use and all the information I needed was presented in a clear and concise manner.
