The Aran View House Hotel is one of the older hotels in the area but has been refurbished over the past decade to compete with the newer hotels. The hotel’s fantastic views out to the Aran Island are a key draw for guests, along with the splendid food available in the restaurant and bar.
On summer, evenings the hotel bar has musical entertainment with traditional Irish music played most nights. This won’t unduly affect anyone taking an early night as all guest rooms are well insulated (for sound) and tastefully appointed to reflect the country manor style of the hotel.
The 4-star Ballyvara Guest House is located closer to Doolin village and provides some of the most unique accommodation on this list. Under the one roof there is the option of choosing luxury suites, family rooms, self-catering studios as well as the regular twin/double rooms.
The guest houses contemporary design applies inside and outside with some rooms having king size sleigh beds, marble bathrooms and Jacuzzi/spa baths.
Given the rural, and almost remote, feel to the region it is surprising to find a 4-star 12 room boutique hotel in Doolin. However, Tir Gan Ean House Hotel has been a welcome addition to the area with its newly built Celtic inspired architecture and the swath of luxurious amenities in guest rooms. All rooms have air conditioning, plasma TVs, free Wi-Fi and queen size beds.
For anyone revisiting Doolin Ireland after being away for a while will be delighted to see how the quality of hotels, as above, has improved over recent years without sacrificing on good service.
