The number of Ballybunion hotels is unfortunately limited due to the remote location of the town in this part of south-west Ireland. As a result, the large percentage of visitors choose to stay at some of the fantastic country house and castle hotels in the surrounding area. This brief list has four of the best.

Furthest out from Ballybunion village is the Bellbridge House Hotel. It is a popular choice due to its beach side location and proximity to the majority of great golf courses in the area, including Ballybunion Golf Club. It is also the most modern on this list with large contemporary styled rooms, all of which have scenic views of the sea or surrounding countryside.

Heading closer to the village, you will find the sumptuous Ballyseede Castle on the Tralee-Killarney road. The castle hotel only has 12 rooms but this adds to the feeling of exclusivity staying there. Each guest room is individually designed with lush elegant decor throughout the rooms. Dining in the large dining hall is a wonderful experience due the period ornamentation, large marble fireplaces and the high quality of food on the menu.

For those who really want to pamper themselves on holiday then a break at the Ballygarry House Hotel & Spa comes highly recommended. The luxurious spa has a variety of aqua & mud treatments and is complemented perfectly with the Brooks own restaurant providing glorious food using all organic produce sourced from the region. Add to this the large comfortable rooms and the relaxing gardens and you’ve got a great spot for a truly relaxing time.

The largest hotel on offer is Glin Castle. Its size does not however make staying here feel impersonal. The castle interior is decked out with regal furnishings and ornaments and this theme runs into the guest-rooms, some of which even have four-poster beds. Many guests also partake of the fine dining in the main dining room. Diners get to enjoy a variety of organic vegetables, beef and lamb (which the area is famous for).

Visitors to the region are not going to be disappointed by the wonderful scenery. And for that matter, the above hotels perfectly complement a visit to the region by providing friendly welcoming accommodation with some superb culinary treats.
